Performance poetry workshops

Schools workshops

Basic format
Students are introduced to a series of group and individual writing exercises encouraging creative use of language. The work produced from these exercises are then worshopped using drama techniques to bring them up to a performance standard.

Themes for writing exercises can be around any subject, I have led workshops in schools for Black History month, on identity, fatherhood, family, and movvement.

workshops are available as one off introductory sessions or as part of a larger scheme of work, running over several weeks.

Festival workshops

I offer table-top and drop in poetry exercises and workshops suitable for festivals indoors and out, where participants can drop by, get a taster and move on.

Example
Table top workshop for the Pontefract Liquorice festival. Members of the public were invited to add lines to a massive 8 meter long poetry banner on the theme of liquorice.

For summer 2006 I was at the Tower of London provding a series of workshops for community groups inspired by the archarology of the area, these pieces were then part of an audio display for archaeology weekend exhibited on the Thames Foreshore.
